The
Hidden River Cafe's name translates from the Dutch
"Schuylkill." Way back when, the
Dutch explorers, sailing up the Delaware, missed the
Schuylkill River.
Appropriate
name. The Hidden River Cafe is in East Falls a
couple of blocks up the hill from the Schuylkill
River. It's also pretty well hidden if you
aren't familiar with East Falls. Took the Global
Positioning System in my car for me to find it.
Well
worth the effort. Home cooking with a flair. I
started with a chilled summer red pepper soup. Then fettuccini
salad with sun-dried tomato pesto, fresh mozzarella and
cured olives. A little high falutin' for the likes of
this site, but owner Sandy's love-for-food attitude
and her stories more than balance things out.
